A way to describe a chemical reaction using the names of reactants and products. For example:
aluminium + copper(II) oxide → aluminium oxide + copper
The arrow shows the direction of the reaction. Aluminium and copper(II) oxide are the reactants, and aluminium oxide and copper are the products.
